Richard M. Nixon was a man obsessed with every accomplishment of John F. Kennedy. When Nixon finally attained the presidency in 1969, he was determined to use his powers to emulate as many of J.F.K.'s feats as possible. Top on his list was to have carnal knowledge of Marilyn Monroe. Mercifully for Marilyn, when Nixon was sworn in, she'd been dead for seven years. Shortly after the inauguration he sent out a clandestine disinterment team headed by G. Gordon Liddy, the same team that would later botch Watergate. Marilyn's mortal remains were whisked away to the Capital aboard Air Force 1. She reposed for six years in Eleanor Roosevelt's bedroom, with the exception of a brief trip to China. Nixon would visit her in times of stress and sometimes dress her in Eleanor's old house dresses. When he fled office in 1974, Marilyn went too. Her final resting place is a vault in the basement of the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. researched by your pal E.Z.Smith |
