| Stereo photos (3-D pairs) are produced with a camera that has two lenses spaced 2.5 inches apart (about the distance between your eyes) and it takes two pictures of the same scene from slightly different perspectives. When viewed so your right eye sees the image taken with the right lens, and your left eye sees the one from the left lens, then your brain combines these images into one picture with the illusion of depth. Many gadgets have been invented to produce this effect, the most common one is the View-Master ®. Here are a few 3-D pairs, some straight shots taken with a Stereo Realist from the fifties, some crooked shots that have taken a ride through my Mac. |
